Conference « Invisible Disability at Work »
10 % of the Luxembourg population or about 60,000 people have a special brain, because they have ADHD, autism, dyslexia or giftedness. All these characteristics of the brain can become a huge handicap and can cost society an enormous amount of money for the care system and through
production loss. Especially when these people cannot get proper treatment and when they start in a school that does not understand them and when they end up in a workplace that does not apply to their special talents.
The conference is organised at the initiative of the partners of the “Common charter to promote equal opportunity for people with disabilities on the labour market” signed on 3 December 2015, and in cooperation with Treffpunkt ADHS asbl, to reinforce the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the professional world.

“The journey to confidence” Marko Ferek
This is a one hour talk for teenagers and young people with Kevin Roberts and Marko Ferek on Friday 19th 5-6pm at Les Cotils
”Being confident is thinking and acting regardless of others. It provides us the freedom of being who we truly are and expressing ourselves to the fullest. However, achieving fulfillment in our lives requires eliminating all the fears that we have accumulated through the years. This is especially true for people with AD/HD. We, as people with AD/HD actually somehow become the reflection of how others perceive us and we get lost in this distorted image of ourselves. Rather than being a reflection of our true selves, our personality becomes the reflection of our fears and doubts. Marko Ferek has been lucky enough to walk in both pairs of shoes. From initially having low self-esteem, he has succeeded in building himself up by getting rid of fears and doubts that were huge social and personal drawbacks in his life.” For more info look here

ADHD (Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder) is nowadays diagnosing a mental disorder in children and is also present in adults. It is represented in 3-8% of school children. The main symptoms are negligence, hyperactivity and impulsiveness. Children with ADHD are often recognized as “mischievous”, “outdated” and “lazy”, and in fact with the right approach we see that they are extremely curious, imaginative, and full of energy.
“ADHD and education tailored to the human being” There is evidence of an increase in ADHD and autism in school children whose behaviors are visibly exiting from the usual frameworks. How much has such a population affected some of the changes in education and how much will it affect? Also, the more commonly asked question is whether we should adapt children to the system or how can the education system adapt to the needs of children? Throughout Croatia, various lectures will be held with guest lecturers about today’s most common disorder in school children, which is also present in adults – ADHD.
