In conclusion, this study examined the relationship between key individual resources and both positive and negative workplace behaviours. We expanded key resource theories to include the influence of individual abilities and found a non-compatible view of the relationship between individual resources and subsequent behaviours (i.e., ‘positive’ resources lead to negative behaviours and ‘negative’ resources lead to positive behaviours). This suggests that resources may have unanticipated consequences in the workplace that could both benefit and damage the organization.
