Spanish Federation of ADHD Supporting Associations Print

The Spanish Federation of ADHD Supporting Associations (Federación Española de Asociaciones de Ayuda al Déficit de Atención e Hiperactividad, F.E.A.A.D.A.H.) is a non profit entity which was established in 2002 as a consequence of the existence in Spain of an associative movement supporting ADHD in the different Regions of this country, but none for the whole Spain.

The structure of the Spanish Federation revolves around  a forum for all the ADHD associations in Spain in order to coordinate their activities and to help new associations that are just starting their walk on ADHD support and advocacy. This is done by helping the exchange of experiences and activities amongst all associations. The Spanish Federation enables all associations to have a single voice, to speak at the national level with the Spanish State Institutions. to prepare activities on a national level such as conferences, relations with national media, consensus documents, and so on. The international relationships are also in charge of the Spanish Federation.

The associations that form part of the Spanish Federation as full right members are only associations of parents and people affected by ADHD, that is to say, there are no associations constituted by professionals as full right members of the Spanish Federation, but they can be members with the right to participate in the meetings of the Federation but cannot vote.

The Spanish Federation is organized with a General Assembly which is constituted by the representatives of all the member associations, a Directors Board, a Secretariat, a President, a Vice-president and a Treasurer.

The goals of the Spanish Federation of ADHD Supporting Associations (Federación Española de Asociaciones de Ayuda al Déficit de Atención e Hiperactividad) are:

  • to advise parents, professionals, associations and public and private institutions on ADHD.
  • to promote formation and training activities and the interchange of projects, experiences and investigations.
  • to collaborate with public and private institutions in common surveys and works to improve the knowledge of ADHD.
  • to hold courses, seminars, congresses, working days … to contribute to the disclosure of ADHD.
  • to promote the setting up of associations of people affected by ADHD and their relatives.

At this moment the Spanish Federation is made up of 45 associations that bring together more than ten thousand families in Spain.

In March 2005 the Spanish Federation organized the First National Congress on ADHD in Valencia in collaboration with the association of this Region (APNADAH). The Second National Congress on ADHD took place in Madrid in January 2008.
