ADHD Family Resources Brussels Print

The mission of ADHD Family Resources Brussels is to provide a support network in English for families, schools, educators and all other caregivers who work with those affected by Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) and related conditions in the international community in Belgium. Have a look at the website: www.adhd-edu.be.

AD/HD is a neurological disorder that is conservatively estimated to affect 3-5 % of school-aged children in Europe. It remains under-diagnosed and under-treated in Belgium. Symptoms include an inability to concentrate or sit still, impulsive actions, forgetfulness, difficulty retrieving information on command and disorganization. These children are often seen as difficult and disruptive at school, and may have a co-existing condition, such as a learning disability, or another condition on the autistic spectrum.

ADHD Family Resources Brussels organizes regular support meetings for parents where families affected by ADHD can share their experiences and strategies. This is especially important for families with a newly diagnosed child or adolescent or for newly arrived residents in Belgium who want to set up a support network.

In a joint venture with Europe’s Children – Our Concern (ECOC), we provide a teacher in-service program, through which special needs training is provided in English to the teachers in the European and international schools in Belgium.
